Sharing Shush-Free, All-Abilities Ministry in Downstate Illinois

A Community of Belonging and Celebration, Wherever You Are!

3rd Sunday of Each Month at 3pm - Attend an In-Person Gathering Site or Online via Zoom

About Us

Every community has people with disabilities, but not all communities have church congregations that can offer specially adapted disability-friendly ministries. We are trying to bridge this gap by using technology to share the awesome Rejoicing Spirits style of all-abilities ministry with all communities of the Central/Southern Illinois Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America! Participants can attend our monthly services (3rd Sunday at 3pm) in-person at a Gathering Site or online using Zoom, and we are always striving to learn how we can offer a more complete, nurturing, and community experience for people gathered in different places through different means!

What is Rejoicing Spirits?

Rejoicing Spirits provides a "shush-free" faith space in which people of all abilities are loved, seen, and respected as children of God. No one is shushed or judged, and welcoming all is our ultimate goal! We understand that "sit down and be quiet" doesn't work for everyone, and that typical worship services can struggle to meet people's unique sensory needs. The service format is great for people with autism, ADHD, sensory or behavioral disorders, developmental disabilities, or no disabilities at all. All are truly welcome at Rejoicing Spirits - no exceptions!
